Set in "Nuovo Zelandia", the vampire myth is given a 1960ish treatment, where a human cop partners with a vampire cop to stop a vampire bent on creating a war between the two "separate but equal" races, when an influenza epidemic begins to sweep the human population. More Sci-Fi than horror, this UK/NZ co-production took nearly four years to make, from first draft. One feels that more time should have been given to this "world" and its history to make for a more rounded story. Shot in Auckland and Dunedin, much is convincing mainly due to capable cast performances. Recommended.
