On this date, six stamps were issued, commemorating the New Zealand 'Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers' production, that was scheduled to premier on 18 December 2002. These six stamp designs were offered in gummed and self adhesive forms, as well as booklets, FDCs, miniature sheets, maximum cards and Presentation Pack. Unless stocks are exhausted earlier, these items will remain on sale until 03 December 2003; when another series: 'Lord of the Rings - Return of the King', will be issued.



40c - Aragorn & Eowyn - Lady Eown, niece of King Theoden, finds comfort in the company of Aragorn, a ranger from the north who comes on a quest.

80c - Orc Raider - Orc Wargriders borne into battle by the wizard Saruman to burn and destroy the nation of Rohan.

90c - Gandalf the White - In the lengthening shadows on the eve of doom, a beacon of hope is rekindled from a radiant figure, robed in brilliant white.

$1.30 - The Easterlings - Many of Sauron's servants are Men, the Easterlings of the far east.

$1.50 - Frodo Captured - Following bleak pathways tread by few, their steps bring Frodo and Sam ever closer to a dark and uncertain fate.

$2.00 - The Shield Maiden of Rohan - Standing on the steps of the Meduseld, Eowyn, the White Lady of Rohan, and ailing King Theoden's niece, despairs of her world.
