In the South Pacific island of the late 19th century, pillaging and slave trading by pirates and opportunists is commonplace. Bully Hayes (Jones) is a buccaneer whose lady friend has been captured by Ben Pease (Phipps), a pirate in league with an unscrupulous German naval commander who wants bases in the islands. In an "Indiana Jones" style mission, Hayes and his band rescue his lady friend and deal with the German warship. Filmed in Fiji, Rotorua and the Bay of Islands.

Buddy-boy/adventuring-rogue genre of juvenile nonsense. Authentic settings are mere background to never-never-land Pacific as a naive Hollywood scriptwriter might imagine it. 'Bully Hayes' character unrelated to historical villain of the name. Mindless. (Nicholas Reid - "A Decade of New Zealand Film')
